Introduction of Navisworks Freedom & Its Working Process

Navisworks freedom lets you view, navigate, measure, and section. With Navisworks freedom, you can produce more secure, compressed NWD files. There is no setup time, model representation, or server costs associated with the hosting of third-party servers. You can use it for a large CAD model.

View

In Navisworks, you can add rendered colors to your models, so you can make it simpler by selecting this and doing it below, so you can navigate in the model better.

  1. Firstly, you can go to the viewpoint tab and then go to the mode button.
  2. Then, select shaded instead of full render, it will help to reveal the colors for transparency in this model. It will help navigate much quicker through the model.
  3. To turn off the grid, go to the viewpoint tab and turn off the show grid option.
  4. If you want to save a viewpoint then go to the viewpoint button & select viewpoint. A dialog box would be opened.
  5. The viewpoint dialog box contains an interface for viewing previously created BIM coordination to identify any issues.

Navigate

  1. You want to navigate the model quickly, so you should use the view queue to achieve this. It is the least effective mode of navigation, but it is suitable for beginners. Using a mouse, you grab the view queue button and rotate it to build responses.
  2. When you select orbit from the viewpoint tab, you'll be able to use the tool. A pivot point is a twisty icon located in the middle of the model. Rotating the building design to the top or bottom is done by holding the left click & dragging it there. Pan your model by scrolling up and down the button.
  3. You can also use the walk command which is in the viewpoint tab & select the walk button. When you click the mouse arrow, it will change into a footprint like you are walking through the model. By pressing the mouse up and down, you can walk forward and backward in the model or building design. In this method, you can move from one position in the model to another as if you were walking across the model.

Measure

You must set a measurement unit before starting measuring anything in Navisworks. You have to click the send button & select the options button where You can select the interface for desired unit & angles.

You want to measure the distance between two beams. The process is below;

  1. First, go to the review tab and you will see the measurement tool.
  2. Select point to point in the measurement tool. It automatically changes the cursor to the plane into a different axis
  3. After that select both the beams from one point to another to get the accurate measurement in 3 different axes X, Y & Z.

Section

You can go to the section panel which is in the view tab in Navisworks Freedom. After that, you can either select section view or section plane settings.

  1. If you select section plane settings, a panel would be open where you can select 6 plane alignments. It allows you to go through the item model without hiding any item.
  2. Default section constructs through for the visible area in the center of your model
  3. You can go to the viewpoint tab & select enable sectioning.
  4. You can disable the section plans at any time using Section Plane settings.
  5. You can select align to view in the section plane settings that enable you to pick a plane to cut your model. You can isolate a portion of your model to see cleanly & modify it.
  6. You can move the section plane using Section gizmo.
